My Association
I was contacted by the founders of this start-up who requested my services as a digital design consultant. Our plan involved prioritising the development of the app to ensure it was ready for launch, followed by commencing work on the website.
Team Members - Stakeholders, junior UX designer, android and iOS developer
Project Duration - 1 Year
Project Requirement Summary
The objective of the project was to create a human-centric app that promotes mental well-being by providing a supportive community, valuable resources and tools. By adopting a human-centred design approach, the team aimed to create an intuitive and visually appealing app that addresses the needs and preferences of individuals seeking mental health support.
Approach
With a clear project plan ahead of us we started working on phase one - mobile app design by following the below process
Research and Analysis
Part of the research, stakeholder interview was our primary research approach. These sessions helped us understand their vision, target audience, needs and pain points related to mental health support. The insights gained from the research enabled us to make further progress on user experience planning.
User Experience Planning and Design
The UX design process began defining the app's information architecture and further creating use case scenarios and task flows. After documenting the plan for user experience, we started with rapid lo-fi wireframe and prototyping. Worked closely with the stakeholders to gather feedback and make necessary improvements. High-fidelity prototypes were then developed to visualise the final app experience design.
User Interface Plan and Design
The design research was conducted by understanding the brand better. We worked with the branding team to understand the brand and its tone of language. Based on the brand guidelines, we aimed to create an appealing and calming visual atmosphere while maintaining a professional look. A soothing colour palette and typography were carefully chosen. We also created custom illustrations to enhance the app's usability and evoke positive emotions. Consistent design elements, including buttons, icons, and spacing, were implemented to create a cohesive user interface.
We started implementing the user interface design system by creating screen designs for each task flow identified during the high-fidelity wireframes. These included personalized goal setting, mood tracking, guided meditation exercises, informative articles, a mental health community forum, and access to professional therapists. Each feature was designed with simplicity and accessibility in mind, ensuring users could easily engage with the app's offerings.
Results and Impact
The mental wellness app successfully provided a user-centric platform for individuals seeking mental health support. By adopting a human-centred approach to design, the team created an app that prioritizes usability, accessibility, and user satisfaction. The seamless integration of UX and UI design principles, informed by extensive research, resulted in an aesthetically pleasing and intuitive mental wellness app.
